  I have closed numerous times on properties in the past. A buying agent insisted that I close with Stewart Title in Georgetown because they know the routine and can get it done. As much as I would like that to be true, it simply was not the case. Here are some unfavorable highlights of my experience with them: ► They were slow to respond to inquiries. ► I had to be a squeaky wheel to get them to follow through (e.g. emailing us the closing docs in pdf form). ► I felt they tried to snow me about a discrepancy amount on the closing statement. It was a mistake where Stewart Title owed us money - albeit after the closing. They wired an amount owed to us that was less than what was signed on the closing disclosure (they produced a new closing disclosure after the fact). My emails were ignored for weeks (I was later told they were not coming through). But after I talked to someone, my emails magically started being received. It turns out their story for the discrepancy was completely false. They promised to send me a check to rectify the situation, but they had the temerity to not send it out until I inquired why I had not received it a week later. Be warned! Caveat emptor.
